That’s why our name carries the distinction of “trusted value for over 30 years,” a phrase that defines both our history and our promise to continue serving with the same precision, care, and credibility for decades to come.

For decades, the Humfleet name has been synonymous with real estate in southeastern Kentucky, thanks to a family legacy spanning multiple facets of the industry. It began with Ray Humfleet, a well-known real estate broker and auctioneer based in London, KY, who ran a full-service realty business famously marked by a Model T Ford car perched atop his office building as a local landmark. Ray’s presence established the Humfleet reputation across the region, and the family tradition continued through his son, Mike Humfleet.

Ray Humfleet

Mike founded Mike Humfleet Appraisal Service in London and became a respected real estate appraiser, providing high-quality property valuations in the area for years to support area buyers, sellers, and lenders. Meanwhile, Ray’s brother (and Mike’s uncle) George Humfleet expanded the family’s imprint into housing sales by founding George Humfleet Homes in 1969. Starting with just a few mobile homes on a lot, George grew his London-based dealership into one of Kentucky’s leading manufactured and modular home businesses over the next 50 years. Through these ventures – from brokerage and auctions to appraisals and home sales – the Humfleet name became a byword for real estate in southeastern Kentucky, an influence felt throughout the state and region.

In recent years, the next chapter of this legacy has taken shape as Mike Humfleet Appraisal Service transitioned into Humfleet & Hopkins. The firm is now led by Mike’s longtime associate of nearly 15 years, ensuring continuity of the values and standards clients have trusted for decades. The new name both honors the enduring impact of the Humfleet family in Kentucky real estate and reflects the growth-minded vision carried forward under the ownership of Joseph Hopkins. Together, Humfleet & Hopkins symbolizes a bridge between a respected heritage and a dynamic future—anchored in Southeastern Kentucky, yet expanding its influence into new communities and real estate markets across the state and beyond.
